Rotunda wins double whammy at Tidy Business Awards

Article Date: 23/08/2009

The Rotunda has won two awards at the Tidy Business Awards 2009, which took place in Ambar at The Rotunda this Tuesday.

The Rotunda won a Gold Award for a 65% reduction in waste sent to the landfill. All of the recycled waste is compacted on site, cutting the need for collections. Members of Rotunda staff have volunteered for local environmental projects which contributed to boosting this award from Sliver last year to Gold standard.

Philip Abraham from The Rotunda won a Special Recognition Award, in recognition of his volunteering efforts. The Kingstonfirst team were really impressed with Philip’s hard work and enthusiasm as his assisted them over the course of 3 days, helping to remove debris from the river and clearing weeds and litter from planters. Philip gave up his own time to help, fitting his volunteering around lunchtime breaks.

David Harper, comments: “We are delighted to have been recognised by ENCAMS, with its prestigious Tidy Business Award, which set the industry benchmark for effective recycling and waste minimisation, ranging from basic legal compliance up to wider, voluntary, environmental improvements, as the only business to win two awards, it is a particularly significant accolade!
